Teams can sign up early starting Monday, February 19, via online form.
There will be two nights of screenings!
Friday, March 8, 2024, at The Hippodrome State Theater Cinema. Limited tickets available! More details to follow
Saturday, March 9, 2024, at The Backyard with Awards Ceremony to follow. $5 suggested donation at the door.
Live streaming Saturday, March 9, 2024, at youtube.com/c/cinemadromegnv!
Originating in the film Be Kind Rewind, sweded films are low-to-no budget recreations of famous movies. A *true* sweded film would be done with all shots being created in one take using only a camera and whatever props you've created. No special effects created in post, etc. However, our rules are not that stringent. Do as many takes as you want, but everything still needs to be done in camera. See past submissions for ideas on how it works!
Your team can have as many people as you want. In the past, we've put a limit on this to hold onto the original nature of the Swede (all of the swedes in Be Kind Rewind were created with two people). However, we just want you to make the best Swede you can. It's free to enter a submission, so the more the merrier!
There will be a special advanced screening on Friday, March 8, at The Hippodrome in their Cinema! We're so excited to be back at The Hipp to give the full theater experience to view this year's Swedes!. Details are still to follow on this, but limited tickets will be available. We will also hold our usual Saturday night screening at the Backyard with booze and awards and all that fun stuff. We are asking for a $5 donation at the door at The Backyard to help us cover our overhead.
This event is open to filmmakers of all levels. It's a great jumping on point if you have any interest in making movies and a fun exercise for those that are more experienced! Feel free to contact us if you have questions!
